Happy New Year 2015
And a happy New Year to you all, and wishing you good health and of course good golf in 2015. The weather has been pretty kind to us over the festive period, and it has been great to see so many of you bringing up guests to play during this time. The course has held up really well, and I have been amazed at how the speed of the greens is still really good.
I had a few holes with last year's Junior Captain, Connor O'Brien, who is now out in University in Florida and doing well with his studies and his golf. It is one of the many aspects of my job (if you can call it one!) that is so great: the chance to see youngsters develop with their lives and how golf has had such a positive effect on them. So well done to him, and I am looking forward to our next game which will be in Daytona Beach, where he is based over there, at the end of the month when good fortune will see my wife and I out in the 'Sunshine State' for a couple of weeks.
Over the Christmas period I always end up watching a few films and sometimes even get to the end of some of them without falling asleep!! My favourite one was the Seve film which was an interesting mix of actual footage and interviews with the great man and his contempories, and a terrific young actor playing Seve in his youth. It was a fun film, and although it is, of course, a sombre ending, you really marvel at what he achieved from such humble beginnings. So if you get the chance I thoroughly recommend it.

I am sure the weather will worsen sooner or later and curtail our golf. On the plus side, we are past the shortest day, so surely spring can't be that far away, can it?
Good luck to all of you with your golfing endeavours this week.
